HOW TO FLUFF YOUR TREE

Fluffing is an essential part of dressing your tree, helping you achieve a shapely and life-like look. Follow our tips below...

POSITION
Make sure the space you have allocated for the tree is large enough for the branches to be fully extended. Assemble the base and position it as close to the tree’s final position as possible.

START AT THE BOTTOM
Work your way up methodically from the bottom, fluffing the widest branches first.

SPREAD THE BRANCHES
Before you start, loosen the branches by giving the sections a gentle shake. Fully fan out the branches on each section. For tall trees, fan out the branches before you place the top section on.

FLUFF INSIDE OUT
Get your hands right in amongst the branches and ruffle them from the inside, moving your way gradually outwards.

TAKE A LOOK
Take a step back and check to see if it’s even and full from every angle. Fix any gaps, uneven sections, or patchiness.

HOW TO DRESS YOUR TREE

Now you have fluffed your tree, follow our tips below to help create a show-stopping centrepiece to your Christmas celebrations...

CHOOSE YOUR THEME
Before dressing your tree, we would suggest choosing a cohesive theme be that traditional, modern or eclectic. This could be based on a colour palette or revolve around a collection of decorations.

LIGHTS
If your tree is not pre-lit, start by hanging your lights on the tree. It is recommended that you plug your lights in first, just to make sure they are in working order. Start at the bottom of the tree, working your way up. As you do so, weave the lights in and out of the branches. Find our guide of how many lights you need for your tree HERE.

ADD YOUR GARLAND, TINSEL OR RIBBON
Drape evenly beginning from the top down, laying loosely across the branches to ensure they don't bunch together. For interest, ribbon can be used instead of the traditional garlands or tinsel. Ribbon can be complimented by additional bows of the same material dispersed throughout the tree.

SECTION YOUR TREE
By dividing your tree into sections (top, middle & bottom), you can ensure similar items aren't placed too close together, and makes the overall task more manageable. This also helps ensure that your tree appears visually balanced.

ADD TREE PICKS
Tree picks and floral sprays add lively colour and interest to your tree. They come in many forms, such as decorated branches, pinecones and berries. Use picks as accents to enhance your tree, placing them amongst branches. Seasonally available real springs and twigs can also be used.

HANG YOUR KEY DECORATIONS
Add your favourite statement decorations, ensuring they get pride of place on your tree!

ADD YOUR TREE TOPPER
Once you have added all of your decorations, don't forget the all-important tree topper, coming in a range of shapes and sizes, from fairies to stars.

FINISH WITH A TREE SKIRT OR BASKET
Often overlooked, a Christmas tree skirt is the finishing touch. These help to balance the overall design of your decorated Christmas tree.
