CAMPAIGNS, EVENTS & EDUCATION

Our team are always happy to share their extensive knowledge, and strive to promote environmentally-friendly gardening with products such as bee-friendly plants and reduced-peat composts. Ask our knowledgeable team for advice and help on choosing the right plants for you and your garden.

We support RHS Plants for Pollinators campaign, to highlight plants that are beneficial to our native pollinators. Look out for the RHS bee signs, pot stickers, and plant labels amongst the displays in our planteria to help you choose the best flowering plants to attract our vulnerable wild bees and pollinating insects.

We often hold free children's seed planting workshops, coinciding with National Children's Gardening Week. In these workshops we aim to educate children about the process of growing your own seeds, whilst having fun. We provide our own instruction booklets to take away, ensuring they can continue to nurture their seeds at home.

Throughout the year, we offer various workshops and events to help educate customers on how to grow and look after plants effectively. This has included orchid care and terrarium planting workshops with expert Manos Kanellos from Growth Technology.

At both our sites our teams have constructed 'bug hotels' to highlight the plight of our native insects and pollinators and their importance to our garden ecosystems. They are accompanied by information providing ideas of how you can attract and protect insects in your own garden, encouraging customers to build their own.

We were delighted when a local Beaver Group, 3rd Esher Beavers, were inspired by our own planteria 'bug hotel' to create their own version, using material provided by our Esher garden centre.
